We hope that this snapshot of our life and family will show you how much we will love and care for your child.
OUR STORY
When we were married, we always thought that we would have children right away, but we decided to take a few years to enjoy our time together as a married couple. When we were ready, we tried and tried and nothing was happening. We would get excited, take a test, and then our hearts would break. We then find out that I had polycystic ovarian syndrome and that it would be difficult for me to become pregnant. I tried all of the different medications, but nothing was happening. My body went through so much that I just couldn’t deal with anymore medication and my body couldn’t take much more. As we dealt with the emotions surrounding our situation, we started discussing the possibility of adoption.
HOW WE MET
We met in 1992 at Jim’s best friend, Wally’s annual Christmas party. I came to the party with my cousin, Belem who was Wally’s girlfriend. After two years of my family and friends telling me how wonderful Jimmy was and that I was a fool not to date him, I asked him to go on a date to see the movie, The Lion King. From that point on, we were inseparable! Since then, we have been together for 24 incredible years and married for 17 years.
OUR CHOICE TO ADOPT
The choice of adoption was not an easy one. The thought of raising someone else’s child was a choice that could not be taken lightly. We were going to be trusted by that person to raise their child with our whole hearts. As a teacher and also a Godmother to my aunt and uncle’s son who was adopted, we are very familiar with adoption. So when it came time to talk to our friends and family about our decision to adopt, everyone was very supportive. Although we are not able to conceive a child of our own, we are ready to conceive your child in our hearts. Thank you for your consideration in blessing us with a family.

Openness and Being a Multicultural Family
Although we don’t know you, we hope that we have shared with you a little more about us. We have truly been blessed in so many ways and we hope we will soon be blessed with a child to love and cherish as our own. We are both far from perfect, but if you choose us for your child, we promise to always strive to provide a loving, stable home with lots of family and friends to surround and love him or her. We are excited for our new baby’s arrival. We hope you are comforted in this difficult decision and you will have peace. Thank you again for considering us as parents for your baby.
Our Parenting Philosophy
Family is a very important part of our lives and who we are. Spending time with our family is what we enjoy doing. Our child will know the importance of family and traditions. As a family, we will also begin our own traditions. We understand the importance of diversity and respecting different cultures and traditions. Our child’s culture will be just as important not only for our child to embrace, but also our family.
Education is important to us and we will advocate for our child. We will be hands on parents and will make sure our child is our main priority.
We will teach our child to respect others, but to also to be respected. We will also make our child feel safe to tell us anything he or she needs to tell us. We will create and maintain a positive relationship with your child.
We will explain the reasons behind our rules and expectations and will enforce rules and give consequences, but take our child’s feelings into consideration.
