Our Story
We met through mutual friends while at Loyola University Chicago and started dating in April 2011. Our first date was a White Sox game where James bought Gianna a funnel cake. The rest was history! We eloped in 2020 and celebrated with friends and family in 2022. For the past 15 years, we’ve grown up together, traveled the world, built our careers and supported one another along the way.
What Gianna Says About James
James is one of those people who seems to be good at everything. He’s athletic, incredibly smart and deeply committed to the things he cares about. When he sets his mind to something, he goes all in — whether it’s as significant as law school or fun like fantasy football. Whenever James finds something new to learn, like Magic the Gathering or Spanish classes, he dives in wholeheartedly. I have no doubt that this is exactly how he will approach being a dad. Our child’s hobbies and passions will become his, and I know he will be the dad who is just as excited about the things they love as they are. James is thoughtful, serious and responsible when it comes to work and life, but he is also playful, spontaneous and adventurous. I’ve had the privilege of watching him grow up in all the ways that matter most. He will teach our child to take life seriously when it matters, while also encouraging them to be silly, explore, take risks and experience the world with curiosity.
What James Says About Gianna
It is no wonder Gianna is a social worker because the first thing you notice when you meet her is that she truly cares about you. She not only listens, she really hears you. At her job, Gianna is extremely dedicated to her patients and has provided therapy to older adults at the same doctor’s office for the past nine years. In and out of work, everyone who knows her seeks her out for advice. Gianna loves time with her friends and family and often spends hours simply laughing and talking with her loved ones cuddled up on the couch. She is a thrifting fanatic and knows patience is necessary to find the real treasures. Our home is full of her great finds. Gianna will go to any length to support her friends and family at the drop of a hat. Together she and I have thrived and grown. I know she will be an amazing mother.
Our Home and Community
We own a two-bedroom condo in the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago. We love embracing all the adventurous things the city has to offer while also relying on our go-to spots, like our favorite Thai restaurant and ice cream shop down the street. Our sunroom looks out directly across the street to a fantastic park, and the farmers’ market is just one block away. Our neighborhood is close to the lake, vibrant and diverse, and full of art and life. We love our neighbors and enjoy the shared rooftop where we also grow a small vegetable garden each summer. While the dream eventually is to live in a single-family home, we appreciate and embrace living in community with our neighbors in the building.

We believe in open adoption, whether that means visits and regular communication, or sending updates for you to have whenever you’re ready. We want to do what works for you and what you are comfortable with, including if it changes over time. We believe in connection, honesty, openness and love, and that is how we choose to approach adoption.
