We are so appreciative that you’re taking the time to consider us as part of your adoption plan. We admire your strength and courage. We know these decisions are difficult and wish you nothing but peace as you make these choices.

Why Adoption?

Family is one of our core values. We’ve known since our first date that if we built a family, it would be through adoption. Adoption has always been Becka’s plan and Jon is the ultimate includer and loves the idea of welcoming a little one into our family.

Becka, According to Jon

Becka leads with compassion. She’s an amazing first grade teacher and excels at helping kids learn to read. I’ve seen her really shine with kids of all ages on both sides of our family and in our neighborhood, as well as everywhere else we go.

She is our planner and helps make sure I’m meeting my social needs with friends and family, putting together game nights, encouraging me to invite friends over to play music, planning our adventures and vacations, and reminding me to keep in touch with those we don’t get to see often enough.

Becka is diligent, driven, creative, patient and caring. She loves to hike, camp, watch baseball, play games and help us beautify our home. She has a great eye for photography, enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks, and we’re putting together a craft corner in our new house where she can paint, draw, make stickers and buttons, and flex her creative muscles.

Jon, According to Becka

Jon is the kind of person who makes you wonder whether he’s doing something because he genuinely wants to, or just to make sure you are happy. He’s kind wherever he goes, making friends along the way. He’s the extrovert to my introvert.

He isn’t even a father, yet his dad jokes are amazing. I’ve been in love with his humor since the day we met. Jon’s musical talents are alive throughout our home. He keeps an instrument in each room, a ukulele on all 3 floors, and constantly adds songs to his learning list. I love watching his smile when music is around.

Jon is one of the smartest people I know. He received free tuition to University of Alabama for 4 years. He was in the marching band and an acapella group. He majored in music education and spent his 20s living in Alabama, teaching high school music.

Our Home

We live in a 98-year-old, three-bedroom house in Chicago’s Jefferson Park neighborhood. Our little slice of the city is a middle class neighborhood with lots of public sector professionals, within easy walking distance of an early childhood center, an elementary school, dining, bowling, public transit and a forest preserve. Since moving in this Spring, we’ve been enjoying gardening, painting, decorating and generally transforming the space into our own. Our dog, Ranger, loves watching people and dogs through the front window and having his own back yard where he can run, play and sunbathe. We are minutes away from all sorts of family, from Jon’s godparents to various cousins with kids of all ages.

We Promise
